The third and final phase of the 135th session of China Import and Export Fair, or Canton Fair, started in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou on Wednesday, focusing on trendy household goods and daily essentials.
The Yingge, or Hero's Song, dance, a popular folk art form in Guangdong Province, was performed to celebrate the start of the third phase of the fair.
Themed as "A Better Life," the current phase of the Canton Fair runs from May 1 to May 5.
The five-day exhibition gathers 11,495 enterprises on site from home and abroad, including 262 overseas exhibitors from 29 countries and regions.
A total of 21 exhibition zones in five major categories have been in place, which display commodities including toys, baby and pregnancy products, household textiles, stationery and health and leisure items.
The 135th session of the Canton Fair runs from April 15 to May 5 in three five-day installments. Launched in 1957 and held twice a year, the Canton Fair is considered a major gauge of China's foreign trade.
