Hong Kong raises 2024 export growth forecast

2024-06-28 17:18 Last Updated At:17:37

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has raised this year's export growth forecast to 9 to 11 percent.

The HKTDC on Thursday released its mid-year assessment of Hong Kong's exports for 2024, revising the expected growth from the 4 to 6 percent predicted last December to a higher 9 to 11 percent.

According to the HKTDC, a significant increase in orders for electronic products has driven this upward adjustment. In the first five months of 2024, Hong Kong's exports grew by 12.5 percent year-on-year, with the electronics industry accounting for approximately 70 percent of the total export value. This surge in orders has been the main engine behind the robust export performance in the first half of the year.
