The operation of 24/7 freight clearance at Horgos Port, a vital border crossing in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region neighboring Kazakhstan, has greatly enhanced trade efficiency between China and the Central Asian state.

In a move to boost trade efficiency, China introduced around-the-clock customs clearance with Kazakhstan at Horgos Port in August last year.

Since its implementation, the clearance model has effectively streamlined the flow of goods between the two countries by significantly reducing the waiting time.

New cars manufactured in China can reach customers in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries within approximately three days through direct transportation through Horgos Port.

"It takes two to three days for the buyers in the five countries in Central Asia to get their vehicles, most of which are new energy ones," said Ateng Bieke, deputy leader of the Horgos entry-exit border checkpoint duty team, in an interview with China Global Television Network prior to Chinese President Xi Jinping's arrival in the Kazakh capital city of Astana on Tuesday for a state visit to Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, the customs clearance procedures have been significantly simplified.

"We have compressed the original nine entry procedures into four, and reduced the previous 12 exit procedures to four. This has greatly improved the customs clearance efficiency," said Fu Lei, deputy director with the Horgos Port Administration.

As a small city, Horgos is opening the door of Xinjiang to the outside world, and has become a significant bridge connecting China with Central Asia and Europe.
