The Shenzhou-18 astronauts aboard China's orbiting space station completed their second spacewalk at 22:51 (Beijing Time) on Wednesday, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

Ye Guangfu, Li Cong and Li Guangsu worked for about 6.5 hours to complete multiple tasks, with Li Guangsu remaining inside the space station.

With the assistance of the space station's robotic arm and researchers on Earth, they installed space debris protection devices for the pipelines, as well as cables and key equipment outside the Tiangong space station, and conducted an extravehicular inspection.

Ye Guangfu and Li Cong, who were assigned the spacewalk duty, have since returned safely to the Wentian lab module.

The trio have completed one third of their space journey and are scheduled to carry out a large amount of in-orbit scientific experiments and technological tests, the agency said.

Peruvian President hopes to apply China's development experiences in her country

2024-07-06 16:48 Last Updated At:17:07

Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra expressed her admiration at China's rapid development during her first state visit to the country.

Accompanied by her delegation, Boluarte visited several major Chinese cities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Beijing from June 25 to 29.

Speaking to China Media Group (CMG) during her visit, Boluarte expressed her admiration for China's remarkable progress over the past decades.

"Actually, this is my first visit to China, and we went to Shenzhen, Shanghai, and now have come to Beijing. We are paying the state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere greetings to President Xi. Despite the tight schedule, we have benefited a lot. Particularly, the speed of development in your country is amazing. Today and tomorrow, we will continue to learn about China's rapid development in the field of science and technology and learn about how you have built modern cities in just a few years. Take Shenzhen for instance. You've built a modern, digital city from scratch in about 40 years, and it's incredibly digital and smart," said the Peruvian president.

Boluarte also emphasized the tremendous potential for learning from China to make Peru a rapidly growing, thriving and united country.

"This great country has a lot of things that we can learn from. We'll bring what we've learned back to Peru. Hopefully we can practice these experiences in Peru through cooperation with China in state and private investments. Looking to the future, we hope that Peru will become a rapidly growing, thriving and united country like China over time," said Boluarte.
