Chinese Premier Li Qiang has urged efforts to promote the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector and boost the development of enterprises that use specialized, sophisticated technologies to produce unique and novel products, aiming to modernize the industrial system.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a research trip to the city of Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, that began on Tuesday and concluded on Wednesday.

As part of his trip, Li visited production workshops operated by an industrial automation solutions provider in Suzhou, Inovance, where he learned about the company's research and development related to industrial robot components and other products.

Highlighting the need for more advanced, more intelligent and greener development in the manufacturing sector, Li called for efforts to encourage enterprises to integrate into national strategies and gain development opportunities through sci-tech innovation.

During a visit to an AI company, AISpeech, Li was briefed on its research and development related to AI software and chips, learned about its solutions for the auto and home appliances sectors, and experienced large language model (LLM) technologies first-hand.

The rapid rise of LLMs has brought transformative change to research and development and manufacturing methods, he said, urging efforts to leverage China's advantages in market size, diverse demand and rich application scenarios to promote the deep integration of AI and the real economy.

The premier also presided over a symposium during the research trip, where he noted that the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry is a key task to boost China's strength in manufacturing.

Governments at all levels should increase policy support and create a favorable environment to enable more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to stand out from the crowd, he said.

Li fully affirmed the achievements of Jiangsu's economic and social development, and expressed hope that Jiangsu will fully implement the important instructions of President Xi Jinping, and take the lead in building a modern industrial system.

China, Peru trans-Pacific neighbors: Peruvian president

2024-07-06 16:29 Last Updated At:16:37

Peru and China are trans-Pacific neighbors that take care of each other and protect each other, said Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra during her state visit to China recently.

Boluarte paid a state visit to China from June 25 to 29 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. This is her first state visit to China in the capcity of a Peruvian president.

In an interview with China Media Group on June 28, hours before her talks with Xi in Beijing, the Peruvian president said that Xi is really approachable being the leader of a major country in the world.

"I had the opportunity to meet with President Xi on the sidelines of the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting last year. We had a very pleasant conversation, and exchanged views on issues related to our respective major concerns, just as neighbors would. In my impression, Xi is great, approachable and also charismatic being the leader of a major country. I think one reason for China's rapid growth is Xi's passion for boosting national development. This passionate leader loves his people deeply and hopes they can live a better life. Serving the people wholeheartedly has been the fundamental purpose of the Communist Party of China, and that should be the abiding mission of all the other countries. In this regard, I think Xi has big love for his people, who hopes his country to prosper. He is a good example to follow," said Boluarte.

"Peru is China's 'neighbor' across the Pacific." Xi once described China-Peru relations in this way, vividly explaining the profound friendship between the two countries and their peoples.

During his talks with Boluarte, Xi said that China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Peru, and stands ready to work with Peru to consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, promote mutual learning between civilizations, and enhance multilateral coordination, thereby advancing the comprehensive strategic partnership with Peru to new heights.

"I like President Xi's description as the word 'neighbors' means that we are close to each other. I would also like to say that Peru and China embrace each other across the Pacific. From this embrace, our relationship can extend to the rest of America and Asia. When we embrace each other as 'neighbors,' we take care of each other and protect each other in the hope that we can bring prosperity to the world for the benefit of all humanity. The pursuit of national development is the main task of every state leader and every country. So What is the better role model than the great nation of China in this regard?"said Boluarte.
