Xi says China ready to promote high-quality development of China-Uzbekistan relations

China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to promote the high-quality development of China-Uzbekistan relations with the future of the country and the well-being of its people in mind, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday.

Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ahead of the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana.

During their meeting, Xi pointed out that during Mirziyoyev's successful state visit to China in January this year, the two leaders jointly decided to elevate the bilateral relationship to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era and build a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future from a higher starting point, ushering in a new stage for the development of bilateral ties.

Noting that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Xi said China is accelerating its Chinese modernization, while Uzbekistan is also comprehensively advancing the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy.

The two countries share the grand yet simple goal of delivering a better life to their people, Xi said, adding that China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to bear the future of the countries and the well-being of their respective peoples in mind, and promote the high-quality development of bilateral relations. China firmly supports Uzbekistan in safeguarding its national independence, sovereignty and security, Xi stressed, saying that China is always a trustworthy friend and partner of Uzbekistan.

The two sides should further advance Belt and Road cooperation, well implement the medium- and long-term cooperation plan on the economy, trade and investment, speed up the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, cooperate in fields of photovoltaic, wind power and new energy vehicles, and continue to strengthen cooperation in poverty reduction and social governance, Xi said.

China supports the expansion of exchanges between the two countries at the sub-national level, as well as exchanges in tourism, education and other fields, and welcomes Uzbekistan to participate in the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) later this year as the guest country of honor, he said.

China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to accelerate the implementation of the outcomes of the China-Central Asia Summit held in the city of Xi'an and strengthen coordination and cooperation, so as to ensure that the SCO always develops in a direction that serves the common interests of all parties, Xi said.

Mirziyoyev also hailed the elevation of bilateral ties to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era in January, saying this has opened up a new era in Uzbekistan-China relations.

He congratulated China on successfully coping with various risks and challenges and making world-leading achievements in the economy, science and technology as well as other fields under the leadership of Xi, and expressed his congratulations and wished the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee a complete success.

Uzbekistan firmly abides by the one-China principle, resolutely fights against the "three evil forces" of terrorism, extremism and separatism, he said.

Uzbekistan stands ready to work with China to be each other's reliable friend and partner, continue to respect, understand and support each other, and promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields to achieve more fruitful results, Mirziyoyev said.

Uzbekistan is ready to closely coordinate and cooperate with the Chinese side within multilateral frameworks such as the China-Central Asia mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and to promote the implementation of the initiatives proposed by Xi, including the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, Mirziyoyev said.

Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra expressed her admiration at China's rapid development during her first state visit to the country.

Accompanied by her delegation, Boluarte visited several major Chinese cities including Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Beijing from June 25 to 29.

Speaking to China Media Group (CMG) during her visit, Boluarte expressed her admiration for China's remarkable progress over the past decades.

"Actually, this is my first visit to China, and we went to Shenzhen, Shanghai, and now have come to Beijing. We are paying the state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and I would also like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere greetings to President Xi. Despite the tight schedule, we have benefited a lot. Particularly, the speed of development in your country is amazing. Today and tomorrow, we will continue to learn about China's rapid development in the field of science and technology and learn about how you have built modern cities in just a few years. Take Shenzhen for instance. You've built a modern, digital city from scratch in about 40 years, and it's incredibly digital and smart," said the Peruvian president.

Boluarte also emphasized the tremendous potential for learning from China to make Peru a rapidly growing, thriving and united country.

"This great country has a lot of things that we can learn from. We'll bring what we've learned back to Peru. Hopefully we can practice these experiences in Peru through cooperation with China in state and private investments. Looking to the future, we hope that Peru will become a rapidly growing, thriving and united country like China over time," said Boluarte.
