China is committed to the path of peaceful development and a defensive national defense policy and poses no threat to any country, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
Mao made the statement in response to a media query.
"China is committed to the path of peaceful development and a national defense policy that is defensive in nature, and poses no threat to any country. Of course, we will definitely never sit by and watch our legitimate rights and interests and regional peace and stability subject to infringement and threat. We urge relevant countries to take seriously the concerns of their people and the call of regional countries, proceed from safeguarding their own people's fundamental interests, adhere to independence and good-neighborliness, earnestly respect other countries' security concerns and take concrete actions to maintain regional peace and stability," said Mao.
China poses no threat to any country: spokeswoman
Russia claimed that its forces have seized a Ukrainian settlement and held back several Ukrainian offensives in the past 24 hours, while Ukraine said that its troops have caused great losses to the Russian forces over the past day.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday that the Russian army have seized control of a settlement in the direction of Donetsk in east Ukraine on the same day. In addition, Russian troops repelled multiple attacks by the Ukrainian army and hit targets such as Ukrainian air defense systems and drone base stations.
Russian air defense systems also intercepted a number of missiles, rockets and drones of the Ukrainian army, the ministry said.
On the same day, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces issued a report saying that as of 16:00 on Saturday, the Ukrainian troops engaged Russian soldiers dozens of times in multiple directions, and the Russian army mainly launched offensives in the direction of Krasny Liman and Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine.
It said the Ukrainian army resisted several Russian attacks and inflicted heavy losses on the Russian army in the counterattacks.
