Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Thursday for a state visit to the Central Asian country.

Xi arrived in Tajikistan after concluding a state visit to Kazakhstan where he attended the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana.

The state visit comes at the invitation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and marks Xi's first trip to the country in five years.

During the visit, Xi and Rahmon will hold talks in which they are expected to have in-depth exchanges on bilateral relations, discussing key areas for cooperation, as well as issues of international and regional concern, while making new plans and arrangements for the future development of China-Tajikistan relations.

China's foreign exchange reserves stood at 3.2224 trillion U.S. dollars at the end of June 2024, official data showed Sunday.

The amount shrank by 0.3 percent compared with the previous month, the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) said, attributing the decrease to the combined impact of currency translation and asset price changes.

Affected by various factors such as major economies' monetary policies, market expectations and macroeconomic data, the U.S. dollar index and global financial asset prices climbed in June, the SAFE explained.

The Chinese economy has sustained its recovery momentum and continued its high-quality development, which is conducive to maintaining the stable scale of the country's foreign exchange reserves, the regulator said.
