Chinese President Xi Jinping has vowed to push the China-Tajikistan all-round cooperation to a higher level in a written statement released upon his arrival in the Tajik capital Dushanbe on Thursday.
Xi is paying a state visit to Tajikistan at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon, which comes after previous trips to the Central Asian nation in 2014 and 2019, and the Chinese president said he is happy to set foot in this beautiful country again after five years.
On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the government and people of Tajikistan.
Xi said China and Tajikistan are good neighbors who help each other, good friends who support each other, good partners for mutual benefit and win-win results, and good brothers who treat each other with absolute sincerity.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 32 years ago, China-Tajikistan relations have achieved sustained, rapid and sound development, growing from a good-neighborly friendship to a strategic partnership, and then to a comprehensive strategic partnership, which serves as a model for relations between neighboring countries, Xi said.
Xi said the two sides have solid political mutual trust and have always firmly supported one another on issues concerning each other's core interests.
Noting that China has become Tajikistan's second-largest trading partner, Xi said the two sides have achieved fruitful outcomes through Belt and Road cooperation, with their bilateral trading volume continually setting new records.
The cooperation outcomes, including the upgraded China-Tajikistan expressway, the bustling Karasu-Kulma port, the opening of a direct China-Tajikistan flight route, the establishment of Central Asia's first Luban Workshop in Dushanbe, and the China-Tajikistan Center for Traditional Medicine, have all injected strong impetus into the cooperation between the two countries, Xi said.
Xi said he looks forward to holding talks with Rahmon, and also expects to make new plans and arrangements for the development of China-Tajikistan relations in light of the new circumstances, as well having an in-depth exchange of views on the current international and regional situation.
It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, this visit will be a complete success, the Chinese president added.
Xi touched down in Tajikistan on Thursday evening after concluding a state visit to Kazakhstan where he also attended the 24th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana.
