Many parts of China are intensifying emergency response measures to persistent heavy rains.

Heavy rains hit areas south of Yellow and Huahe rivers, especially in Henan, Shandong, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces, with precipitation exceeding 250 millimeters.

The heavy rains caused overflow of the banks of the Diaohe River in Nanyang City of Henan, inundating nearby villages. Over 1,200 people have been evacuated so far, and large machinery has been deployed to reinforce the riverbanks.

In Shandong Province, seven provincial rescue teams, equipped with high-flow drainage vehicles and pumps, were dispatched to Zaozhuang, Tai'an, Linyi, and other cities to fight flooding.

The National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has activated a Level 4 emergency response for both Shandong and Henan provinces.

Since Sunday, heavy rains have been concentrated in central and southern Henan, northern Hubei, central Jiangsu, and northwestern Sichuan Basin.

Southern Henan has experienced particularly heavy rainfall, with Nanyang City alone recording 400-797 millimeters of precipitation, including 30-50 millimeters in just one hour.

Heavy downpours are forecast to continue over the next three days in the areas south of the Yellow and Huaihe rivers, posing risks of secondary disasters.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources, as of 20:00 on Tuesday, 75 rivers in 10 provinces and autonomous regions, including Anhui, Hubei, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Xinjiang, Jilin and Heilongjiang, had experienced flooding above warning water levels.
