China's top political advisor Wang Huning met with President of the Central American Parliament Silvia García in Beijing on Wednesday.

Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said that the one-China principle is the basic norms governing international relations and the universal consensus of the international community, and it is also the political premise for China to develop relations with the Central American Parliament.

China is ready to work with the Central American Parliament to lay a solid political foundation, deepen friendly cooperation, promote people-to-people ties, strengthen multilateral coordination and push forward China-Central America relations, Wang said, noting that the CPPCC is ready to make positive contributions to this end.

García said it is of great significance and correct for the Central American Parliament to establish friendly relations with China, which is in the interests of the people of Central American countries. The Central American Parliament admires China's great development achievements and is willing to learn from China's successful experience, promote cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, renewable energy, youth and education, and play a positive role in promoting friendly cooperation between Central American countries and China, García said.

García is on a visit to China from July 21 to 27 at the invitation of Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
