A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ship at 03:23 Monday deliberately collided with a China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel after illegally intruding into waters adjacent to the Xianbin Jiao (Reef), a part of China's Nansha Islands.

The footage provided by the CCG shows that the PCG ship 4410 suddenly turned and collided with CCG vessel 21551 on its port side.

Gan Yu, a spokesperson for the China Coast Guard (CCG) said on Monday that Philippine Coast Guard vessels 4410 and 4411 illegally intruded into the waters near the Xianbin Jiao in the Nansha Islands without Chinese government permission. The Chinese Coast Guard took control measures against the Philippine vessels in accordance with the law and regulations. The Philippine vessel 4410 ignored multiple warnings from China and deliberately collided with the Chinese Coast Guard vessel 21551 in an unprofessional and dangerous manner, causing a scrape. The responsibility for the incident lies entirely with the Philippine side, Gan said.

Around 6 a.m., the Philippine coast guard ship, defying warnings from the Chinese side and disregarding route control, intruded into the waters of Ren'ai Jiao, Gan added.

China urged the Philippines to immediately stop infringing on China's sovereignty and making provocative moves, otherwise the Philippines will bear full responsibility for any resulting consequences, Gan said.

China has indisputable sovereignty over the Nansha Islands, including the Xianbin Jiao, and their adjacent waters. The China Coast Guard will continue to carrying out rights protection and law enforcement activities in waters under China's jurisdiction, resolutely safeguarding national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights, the spokesperson said.

China, Spain to deepen economic cooperation, explore new sectors: commerce ministry

2024-09-13 05:48 Last Updated At:07:17

China and Spain are set to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on expanding collaboration in emerging industries such as clean energy and cross-border e-commerce, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

During a regular press briefing, spokesperson He Yongqian said the ministry will work closely with Spanish authorities to strengthen ties and cement economic partnerships.

"Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez recently led a trade delegation to China, where he and Minister Wang Wentao delivered speeches at the second meeting of the China-Spain Business Advisory Council, joined by over 60 representatives from both countries. During the meeting, business leaders from China and Spain expressed their commitment not only to strengthening cooperation in traditional sectors but also to exploring opportunities in emerging industries such as clean energy, cross-border e-commerce, big data, and the low-altitude economy, while jointly expanding into other markets," He said.

The spokesperson said the next step is to provide more regular and practical platforms for exchanges between businesses from the two countries.

Sanchez visited China for a four-day trip that began on Sept. 8.
