China Media Group (CMG), China's major broadcaster, on Friday launched its first free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) platform at a product launch event in Beijing, aiming to improve the country's international communication.

FAST refers to a category of streaming television services which offer traditional linear television programming and studio-produced movies without a paid subscription, funded exclusively by advertising akin to over-the-air or cable TV stations. The networks can offer targeted advertising tailored to user portraits.

The service, characterized by a young audience and promising commercial potential, is favored by major global media conglomerates in a bid for market share.

Being the first self-built FAST platform in China, the CMG's network also introduced its initial lineup of two specialized channels -- "hi Drama!" for television dramas and "hi Life!" for lifestyle documentaries.

At the product launch event, numerous experts from domestic and foreign media outlets agreed that the CMG's launch of China's inaugural FAST platform along with specialized channels unlocks new opportunities for global media communication, and it is an innovative move that aligns with emerging trends in the media industry.

China and Spain are set to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation, with a focus on expanding collaboration in emerging industries such as clean energy and cross-border e-commerce, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

During a regular press briefing, spokesperson He Yongqian said the ministry will work closely with Spanish authorities to strengthen ties and cement economic partnerships.

"Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez recently led a trade delegation to China, where he and Minister Wang Wentao delivered speeches at the second meeting of the China-Spain Business Advisory Council, joined by over 60 representatives from both countries. During the meeting, business leaders from China and Spain expressed their commitment not only to strengthening cooperation in traditional sectors but also to exploring opportunities in emerging industries such as clean energy, cross-border e-commerce, big data, and the low-altitude economy, while jointly expanding into other markets," He said.

The spokesperson said the next step is to provide more regular and practical platforms for exchanges between businesses from the two countries.

Sanchez visited China for a four-day trip that began on Sept. 8.
