China International Television Corporation (CITVC) launched China's first FAST production and broadcasting streaming television in Beijing on Friday, aiming to enhance the country's international communication and expand the global reach of Chinese content.
FAST, or Free ad-supported streaming television, offers viewers free streaming services without paid plans or subscriptions.
FAST streaming has gained rapid popularity among global viewers.
"The FAST business is experiencing explosive growth globally, with advertising revenue projected to hit 10 billion U.S. dollars in four years. With the FAST platform, we are incorporating Chinese elements into the established markets of Europe and America. It has substantial value and exciting commercial prospects. In terms of international communication, our FAST platform can provide one-stop service for domestic copyright holders, featuring customized content, production, and broadcasting," said Li Lu, deputy manager of the CITVC.
China's newly established FAST platform offers an all-in-one service that includes translation, production, and overseas broadcasting. It helps to expand the influence of Chinese content among viewers worldwide.
"The global audience's acceptance and demand for different cultures are diverse. We believe Chinese culture can be spread through artistic media such as film, generating a positive impact across the globe. We just learned about FAST, a new communication platform. I think it offers a fresh approach to promoting Chinese culture internationally," said Jia Ling, a Chinese director and actress.
The initial lineup includes two specialized channels: the "hi Drama!" channel which showcases popular films and TV dramas, and the "hi Life!" channel that offers engaging documentaries and animated series.
