The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that Russian forces have seized a number of settlements in the Donetsk region and successfully repelled Ukrainian counterattacks from multiple directions; while Ukrainian military sources reported intense clashes with Russian forces in the Pokrovsk and Kharkov directions on the same day.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry's report, the Russian troops gained control of the village of Orlivka in the Donetsk region, securing more favorable positions and fortifications in the area.
The report also stated that Russian forces repelled Ukrainian counterattacks from various directions, targeting Ukrainian personnel, as well as artillery and other weapons systems.
Simultaneously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported that 125 battles took place in the frontline regions on the day. The fighting was particularly fierce in the Pokrovsk direction, with a total of 36 battles occurring, during which Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 30 Russian attacks, with six ongoing engagements. In the Kharkov direction, Ukrainian forces managed to push back Russian advances near Volchansk.
In the Kursk direction, the Russian Defense Ministry said its troops, with support from aviation and artillery army, successfully repelled 11 Ukrainian assaults towards three settlements in the Kursk region, thwarting Ukrainian attempts to attack three other settlements. Russian air forces and artillery forces targeted Ukrainian personnel and equipment assembly points. Russian aviation struck Ukrainian military personnel and equipment assembly points in Sumy region.
Oleksandr Syrsky, commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said Tuesday that approximately 30,000 Russian soldiers have been redeployed from other fronts to the Kursk direction, with this number still increasing.
Currently, Ukrainian forces continue to operate in the Kursk region, having gained control of 1,294 square kilometers of land and 100 settlements, in addition to capturing 594 Russian soldiers.
