China's data industry registers rapid expansion anticipating an annual growth rate of more than 20 percent in the coming years, said an official with the National Data Administration (NDA) on Tuesday.
Chen Ronghui, Deputy Director of the NDA, was speaking at an Exchange Activity on 'Activating the Potential of Data Elements and Unlocking New Quality Productivity', a sideline event to the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2024 in Guiyang, the capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province.
Chen said that China's data industry is seeing rapid development, with the total national data production reaching 32.85 zettabytes in 2023, over 10 million times the digital resources of the National Library of China.
The country has developed a comprehensive data industry chain covering the entire life cycle of collection, storage, processing, management, and utilization.
Chen also said that the administration will enhance the data industry's development through strategic planning, fostering diverse business entities, enriching the data ecosystem, and optimizing the development environment.
"We support all localities in fostering and expanding the data industry according to their corresponding conditions, and guide all localities to gradually form a pattern of coordinated and complementary development with their own distinctiveness," Chen said.
The three-day China International Big Data Industry Expo 2024 officially opens on Wednesday with the theme of "smart digital technology shapes a thriving digital economy".
The expo has planned 25 supporting activities on topics including artificial intelligence, smart cities and international data space, providing platforms for more than 1,7000 registered guests and insiders to jointly initiate better solutions for the industry's future development.
