China's distinctive approach to modernization, an innovative blend of tradition and modernity, has offered an inspirational alternative to the Western model, said President of Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadera in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) aired on Friday.

Touadera said he's deeply impressed by the foresight of Chinese leaders in the pursuit of development goals after watching China's political documentary "Carrying the reform through to the end." Premiered in 2017, the ten-episode documentary produced by CCTV summarized the progress and achievements of China's reform since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 2012.

"We have witnessed how the Chinese people have achieved transformation and progress, by virtue of foresighted Chinese leaders and their unwavering pursuit of development visions. Both my Cabinet members and I felt this way at the moment [when we watched the documentary]," Touadera said.

The president believed the China, drawing inspiration from its traditional culture, offers alternative models of development that do not rely on Western paradigms.

"Chinese modernization integrates Chinese culture. This development model is quite distinctive and inspiring. It makes us realize that development is not limited to merely copying Western models," he said.

"China's approach to development not only charts a clear vision and direction but also focuses on the well-being of its people and the promotion of Chinese culture," said Touadera.

Touadera said when visiting China, he was struck by "the blend of tradition and modernity, as well as the unique cultural atmosphere and dynamic economy here were all eye-opening."
