China Media Group (CMG) will broadcast the 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, featuring fine elements in traditional Chinese culture and promising a high-tech visual feast to spread festive joy across the nation.
The annual gala, also known as Qiuwan or Autumn Gala in Chinese, will be aired globally on the full-moon night, which falls on Sept 17 this year. The gala will be available on various CCTV channels and other new media platforms at that time.
Chinese aesthetics will be woven throughout the entire gala, including poetry, Chinese classic dance, and traditional Chinese operas.
"Elements like shadow puppetry, paper cutting, and other intangible cultural heritage forms will be used in the gala. In addition, ancient poetry will be employed in the hosts' scripts, thus presenting an atmosphere of the Chinese culture at this beautiful Mid-Autumn Festival night," said Yang Qifang, general copywriter of the gala.
The gala has also made innovation on its methods of expression by using technologies such as VR and AI, so as to make the stage come alive, guiding the audience to travel through different places and times.
