Terrorism involving unmanned equipment poses a serious global threat, requiring a unified response from the international community, warned Landry Ulrich Depot, director general of the Central African Republic's National Gendarmerie, on the sidelines of the Great Wall 2024 International Forum on Counter-Terrorism in Beijing.
His comments highlighted the escalating threat of terrorism worldwide, affecting both developed and developing countries alike.
In an interview with China Global Television Network, Depot emphasized the challenges faced by nations with limited resources, particularly in Africa.
"As the countries with less means such as the African countries, we are facing the same challenges. We are behind in the development of corresponding tools. It is very important that we make efforts to unite and share our ideas with those who are capable of resolving this problem. This will gain momentum throughout the whole world," he said, drawing attention to the urgent need for technological advancement in counter-terrorism efforts.
Depot praised China's proactive stance in organizing forums that gather African countries to address these critical issues.
"That is why today, the Chinese authorities have understood, and sounded the alarm. They have decided to organize the forums that bring together the African countries to reflect on this question there. This helps African countries to be aware of these serious problems," he said.
He said China can play a vital role in supporting African nations in this respect.
"China is now one of the largest economies in the world and is also at the forefront in high-end technology. Now African countries need China's help to cultivate talents in the high-tech fields and then the corresponding equipment so that they can also achieve development in these areas," he said.
The Great Wall-2024 International Forum on Counter-terrorism ended on Friday.
Hosted by China's armed police force, the four-day event brought together over 170 delegates from more than 50 similar foreign armed forces, as well as over 150 Chinese representatives.
As suggested by its theme, the international forum focuses on three topics, namely, unmanned counter-terrorism equipment, unmanned counter-terrorism combat tactics, and unmanned counter-terrorism training and talent cultivation.
