Zhengding County in north China's Hebei Province is enchanting an increasing number of global visitors through its rich cultural heritage and iconic temples.
This summer, Zhengding, a historic town just a three-hour drive from Beijing, has seen a significant rise in domestic and international tourists, with cultural tourism bookings surging by 62.7 percent compared to last year.
The small county is making waves globally by connecting cultures and transforming its ancient charm into a cosmopolitan appeal.
Azerbaijani tourist Vusal Guliyev is captivated by the intricate architecture and solemn cultural atmosphere of Longxing Temple in the county.
"Recently I heard that there is a very famous computer game which is called Black Myth: Wukong. Also after that I have been to many places, trying to visit these kinds of temples. I have been in China for many years, so I really like Chinese history. And I also feel very proud that China has such unique traditional historical sites," he said.
Ten years ago, Guliyev came to China to study, pursuing his education from undergraduate to doctoral level. The longer he stayed, the more he fell in love with Chinese culture. After graduation, he and his wife chose to stay and teach at their university. They often explore nearby towns during holidays. "We already visited around and there are even subway stations which pass through Zhengding and the main airport of this region is located in Zhengding. So in an economic perspective, it's also one of the important regions for the whole Hebei," he said. In addition to Zhengding's temples and immersive cultural experiences, Rongguo Mansion in the county - originally a filming location for the 1987 version of "Dream of the Red Chamber" - has been transformed into a venue offering captivating night tours.

The 18th Xinjiang Winter Tourism Industry Trade Expo opened on Friday alongside the Xinjiang Funskiing Festival 2024, with both events aiming to boost the "snow and ice economy" in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Both events are being held in Urumqi, the region's capital, and are drawing attention to the ideal conditions that Xinjiang offers snow sport athletes and enthusiasts.
"Xinjiang boasts a long snowfall season and high-quality snow, presenting significant potential for the development of the ice and snow economy. We have strong confidence in the future of the ice and snow economy, as well as in ice and snow sports in Xinjiang. We are also committed to continuously upgrading the Freeride World Tour (FWT) in Xinjiang, enhancing it to a higher level and attracting more skiers," said Zhou Hang, executive director of Xinjiang Funskiing Festival 2024.
With an exhibition area of 18,000 square meters, the three-day trade expo is being held in three pavilions: Snow Equipment, Snow Brand, and Snow Consumption, showcasing stylish and professional products from global ice and snow equipment manufacturers.
Beginning with this new snow season, numerous ice and snow activities are set to be held across the autonomous region. The local government of Altay Prefecture is actively promoting the economic benefits of these events, which include the second Altay Mountains Winter Sports Games and the FWT.
Since 2006, the Xinjiang Winter Tourism Industry Trade Expo has been successfully held for 18 consecutive sessions. Each year, the scale of the exhibition, the diversity of activities, and the number of participants have continued to grow, making it a key platform for showcasing Xinjiang's ice and snow resources and culture.
