Cai Qi, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Tuesday met with Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, who is in Beijing to attend the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Noting that Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Mahamat have held fruitful meeting and jointly announced the elevation of bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, said that this will chart a new direction for the development of China-Chad relations. China is willing to work with Chad to enhance strategic coordination, implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, advance the bilateral strategic partnership and build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future, so as to jointly open new chapters in China-Chad relations and China-Africa relations in the new era, he said.
While expressing appreciation to China for its support in Chad's stability and development, Mahamat said that Chad welcomes Chinese companies to invest and start businesses there, and hopes to further expand cooperation between Chad and China, and between Africa and China, within the FOCAC framework.
