Central China's Hunan Province has established a special permanent exhibition hall for the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo that spans 10,000 square meters, serving as a platform for linking more businesses to unique African products.
China has signed 22 agreements with 14 African countries for the import of agricultural products.
Within this expansive permanent exhibition hall, over 2,000 distinctive products from Africa are on display. During holidays, students from schools in Changsha City visit the hall to learn and experience African culture, history and art.
"We have diamonds from South Africa, sapphires from Tanzania, perfumes from Egypt, peanuts from Nigeria, sesame seeds from Gambia, honey from Malawi, tree bark from Angola, and vanilla from Madagascar," said An Xin, an exhibitor at the exhibition hall.
In March this year, a symposium on furthering the development of the central region in the new era was held in Changsha City. Chinese President Xi Jinping urged the development of the region into a more competitive inland pacesetter for opening-up.
China-Africa trade cooperation has become an important opening-up platform in Hunan, contributing to the national strategy.
Guo Ning, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce said building such a platform is about consistently promoting high-quality African products.
"Our exhibition itself is an open platform for economic and trade exchanges, negotiations, and cultural interactions, aiming to establish a long-term mechanism for trade exchanges with Africa," said Guo.
