Cai Qi, senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Thursday co-chaired the high-level meeting on peace and security of the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) with President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso.
Cai, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, recalled at the meeting that President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony of the summit, proposing the construction of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, and announced the implementation of 10 partnership action plans for China and Africa to jointly promote modernization.
China will fully implement the spirit of President Xi's speech, vigorously promote peace and security cooperation within the framework of FOCAC, and promote high-level security with high-quality development between China and Africa, Cai said.
China is willing to work with Africa to take this summit as an important opportunity to jointly advance modernization, build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, and create a better future for human society, he said.
African leaders including Sassou Nguesso, President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, and President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone also delivered speeches respectively.
The leaders spoke highly of China's global security initiative and its positive role in Africa's peace and security, and looked forward to Africa and China working together to build a modern peace and security system and inject more positive energy into global stability.
Attending the high-level meeting were about 300 representatives from China and more than 50 African countries and major sub-regional organizations.
The three-day FOCAC summit, which opened on Wednesday, is the largest diplomatic event hosted by China in recent years, with the highest attendance of foreign leaders.
Themed "Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-Level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future," the event aims to strengthen friendship and outline future cooperation between the two sides.
