Russia claims controlling settlement in Donetsk, Ukraine reports improved situation in Pokrovsk frontline

Russia said on Saturday that its forces had seized control of one more settlement in Donetsk in the past 24 hours, while Ukraine reported on the same day that the situation in the Pokrovsk frontline had been improved, according to their latest updates on the conflict.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops had seized control of the Kalinovo settlement in Donetsk. The Russian aviation units conducted strikes on a Ukrainian military airport, factories producing drone components and tactical missiles, as well as warehouses storing foreign weaponry.

The ministry also said the Russian air defense forces intercepted 30 Ukrainian drones.

In the past 24 hours, the Russian army killed and injured 280 Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk direction, destroyed three Ukrainian tanks, ten armored vehicles, nine artillery pieces, nine transport vehicles, and multiple other facilities including electronic warfare equipment, according to the ministry.

Meanwhile, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported of 101 battles till Saturday afternoon, with fighting continuing across multiple fronts.

Also on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the situation in the Pokrovsk sector had improved, but it was still difficult.

The Chinese mainland's box office revenue for the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday season, including presale earnings, exceeded 200 million yuan (around 28 million U.S. dollars) as of 13:46 Monday, according to data from Internet platforms.

"Comedies are my favorites. I just like the feeling of spreading happiness among people," said a moviegoer in Beijing.

"I watched the 3D version of 'The Wandering Earth II'. Its visual effect is better and the overall effect is stronger. It has a complete story line," said another moviegoer.
