China has been actively constructing platforms aimed at fostering international cooperation in the area of supply chains, said Ren Hongbin, chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), when addressing a seminar in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday.
Co-hosted by the CCPIT and the International Trade Center (ITC), the seminar focused on the theme of "Building Greener and More Resilient Supply Chains," bringing together over 100 attendees including representatives from international organizations, business associations, think tanks, and enterprises from China and other parts of the world.
The event underscored the need for an open and inclusive mindset, commitment to true multilateralism, and actions to maintain stability and smooth flow of global supply chains, as there are both opportunities and challenges in economic globalization.
This consensus aligns with the broader efforts to ensure global industry and supply chain stability, as highlighted at the China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), according to Ren.
Last year, the inaugural CISCE concluded with over 200 signed deals and agreements of intent. The second edition is set to offer more for global audience in the area, which will take place from Nov. 26 to 30 in Beijing.
At the Tuesday seminar, Ren emphasized that developing a green and resilient supply chain is crucial for tackling global challenges, and events like such expos are key to creating platforms for better international collaboration.
Also speaking at the seminar, Wu Meng, director of CCPIT's International Cooperation Department, told the audience that preparations for the second CISCE are progressing smoothly. The CCPIT will continue to facilitate exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign companies in the field of green and low-carbon development and implement the concept of green development, making the expo a better platform to support high-quality global green supply chain cooperation.
At the meeting, Dorothy Tembo, deputy executive director of the ITC, expressed the center's eagerness to expand its collaboration with partners to offer technical assistance. She also conveyed her appreciation for China's significant contributions to stabilizing the global supply chain.
Established in May 1952, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade comprises VIPS, enterprises and organizations representing the economic and trade sectors in China. It is the most important and the largest institution for the promotion of foreign trade in China.
