A cultural event titled "Written in the Sky: My China Story" was held in Canada's Ottawa on Wednesday to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

"Written in the Sky: My China Story" is a series of cultural events launched by China Media Group (CMG) in March 2024 to gather personal stories about China from around the world. To date, it has collected more than 1,600 stories from China and over 60 countries worldwide.

Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, delivered a speech to the event via a video link.

The cultural event was co-hosted by CMG and Chinese embassy in Canada. More than 500 attendees from the political, business, academic, and media sectors of China and Canada participated in the event.

China has made great development achievements over the past 75 years, and continuously advanced Chinese modernization, which will provide more new opportunities for mutual beneficial cooperation and common development for various countries around the world, including Canada.

At the event venue, the guests visited the photo exhibition celebrating the 75th founding anniversary, and they all left messages to express their blessings to China and the Chinese people.

Several local mainstream media outlets in Canada, such as the Canadian Press, OMNI Television, and the Hill Times, covered the event.

China urges Israel to immediately take actions to cool down the tension with Lebanon, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Sunday when asked to comment on the killing of the leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah.

China is closely following the incident and is deeply concerned over the escalation of tensions in the region. China opposes the infringement on Lebanon's sovereignty and security, opposes and condemns any action against innocent civilians, and opposes any move that fuels antagonism and escalates regional tensions. China urges parties concerned, especially Israel, to immediately take actions to cool down the situation and prevent the conflict from escalating or even spiraling out of control, the spokesperson said.

The tension between Lebanon and Israel is a spillover of the Gaza conflict. The pressing priority is to implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions, end the fighting in Gaza as soon as possible, and earnestly safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East, according to the spokesperson.
