The U.S. session of the "Written in the Sky: My China Story" event was held in New York on Saturday to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the 45th anniversary of establishing China-U.S. diplomatic relationship.
"Written in the Sky: My China Story" is a series of cultural events launched by China Media Group (CMG) in March 2024 to gather personal stories about China from around the world. To date, it has collected more than 1,600 stories from China and over 60 countries worldwide.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, delivered a speech to the event via a video link.
Nearly a hundred guests from China and the United States, as well as representatives from multiple schools and universities, participated in the event.
It is believed that close interactions between the people of China and the United States, especially among the youths, are beneficial for both countries and the world. They hope to see more exchanges and interactions between the youths of China and the United States to promote mutual understanding between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng said that both the Chinese and American people have a long tradition of writing letters, and the vast Pacific Ocean has not prevented us from reaching out to each other. Each letter carries a heartwarming story, a deep bond, and a unique memory. China hopes that there will be more letter writers and storytellers in the two countries, who will write new stories of friendship and cooperation, and together usher in a better future for the two countries and the world.
At this cultural event, several Chinese student representatives from schools like Beijing No.8 Middle School shared recollections of their wonderful times spent with American classmates through video.
Also, representatives of teachers and students from various American universities discussed their experiences studying and exchanging in China, expressing their anticipation to contribute further towards enhancing educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
More than 1,200 mainstream media outlets from over 70 countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, covered the event.
