All parties concerned should work together to make constructive efforts to promote the political settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in Beijing on Thursday.

Mao made the statement in response to a report by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) that the roads and railways connecting South Korea in the eastern and western parts of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) southern border had been completely blocked on the day.

"China's position on the Korean Peninsula issue is consistent. We always believe that it serves the common interests of all parties to maintain peace and stability on the peninsula and to promote the political settlement of the issue. We also hope that all parties can make constructive efforts towards this end," Mao said.
