The ongoing Wuzhen Theater Festival serves as a window for the world to better understand China and its splendid civilization, said Tian Qinxin, a renowned director and president of the National Theater of China.

The 11th Wuzhen Theater Festival, staged in Wuzhen of Tongxiang City, east China's Zhejiang Province, kicked off on Oct 17 and featured diversified performances and activities.

Tian has been attending the festival since the first one, witnessing the renovations of many local theaters. Her plays "Four Generations Under One Roof" and "Green Snake" have been shown every year at the festival.

"Like all the artists and audience who come to the Wuzhen Theater Festival, I am grateful for participating in it 11 years ago. This is a place where dreams rise, and people's pioneering efforts left behind beautiful memories. I hope that more people who love art and travel from all over the country can come to Wuzhen. In such a festive atmosphere, you can watch and discuss plays, having a relaxing and good time," said Tian during an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN).

Tian also noted that she wants the world to appreciate the greatness and aesthetics of Chinese dramas, both their form and language.

"I think there are more and more young people in China who love art, especially drama. So, in the current period of rapid development in China, how can art show its greatness? As the president of the China National Theater, I hope to shape the aesthetics of Chinese dramas through our efforts, so that it can be spread globally and let more people know about Chinese drama," said Tian.

"China is an ancient country with splendid civilization, and there are many classics for us to do. We not only let the world know about Chinese drama in terms of form, but also a country with long and splendid civilization. Our civilization must also be seen by the world. We let the world see the beauty of Chinese language, through the subtitles of our poetry and songs, and the charm of our language. I think this is the direction we should work towards," she said.

Tian also highlighted Wuzhen Theater Festival's role in showcasing China's dramas and art to the world.

"Through everyone's efforts, Wuzhen Theater Festival can let the world see China. It is a window to the world. When I participated in festivals like the Edinburgh Art Festival, they had a saying that art can change life. I think it's very applicable to Wuzhen. Let art change life in a way that becomes the new norm and makes China more beautiful," said Tian.
