The preparation work has basically been completed for the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, said an official at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.
Tang Wenhong, China's Assistant Minister of Commerce, said that the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), themed "New Era, Shared Future", will see participants from 152 countries, regions, and international organizations.
"The seventh CIIE will be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, with the Hongqiao International Economic Forum held at the same time. This is an important economic and diplomatic activity held following the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China," said Tang.
"At present, the preparatory work has been basically completed. The overall exhibition area will exceed 420,000 square meters, and 152 countries, regions and international organizations will participate in national exhibitions and business exhibitions, while the Hongqiao International Economic Forum will feature the main forum and 19 parallel sessions," continued Tang.
Both the country and business exhibitions at this year's expo are ready to provide a platform for participants to showcase their products, he said.
"The country exhibition continues to serve as an important platform for countries to showcase their comprehensive image and opportunities in trade and investment, with 77 countries and international organizations participating. France, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Saudi Arabia, Tanzania, and Uzbekistan will be the guest countries of honor. This year's expo will support 37 least developed countries to participate in both the country and business exhibitions, have a larger exhibition area for African products, and help expand China's unilateral opening up to the least developed countries, thus demonstrating our commitment to inclusiveness through practical actions," Tang said.
"This year's business exhibition continued to maintain a super-large scale with an area of more than 360,000 square meters, and the participation of 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions. The numbers of countries, regions, and enterprises have all exceeded previous figures, with the record high presence of 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and leading enterprises. Additionally, 186 enterprises and institutions will be here for the seventh time to participate in all the CIIE sessions," he said.

Chongli, former competition venue for Olympic Winter Games in north China's Hebei Province, is gearing up for the ski season while exploring to become a year-round appeal offering spring flowers, summer cool weather and resort town experience.
In Chongli, mid-October to early November marks the transition period for ski resorts. Staff use this window period to complete artificial snow-making and ski equipment check, preparing for the forthcoming skiing season.
"After the end of the National Day holiday, we immediately started the early preparations for the entire snow season, striving to welcome ski lovers and tourists at an early date. The most important thing so far is our snow-making preparations," said Zou Zhongqiao, deputy general manager of Ski Resort Fulong.
To improve snow-making efficiency, the entire ski resort has set up 15 meteorological observation points across different areas. Weather data is transmitted to staff's mobile screens every five minutes in real time.
"For example, the temperature varies in valleys and hilltops, at the foot of the hill and at the mountain top even during the same time period. The humidity conditions are also different. During the snow-making window period, we decide whether to turn on and off the snow-makers based on different mountain massif conditions, climatic conditions at different points, so as to finish the snow-making job of the entire mountain within the shortest time," Zou said.
Resource recycling also helps reduce snow-making costs. An artificial lake, holding 100,000 cubic meters of water just 50 meters from the ski resort, collects melted snow from summer. This water is then used for snow-making in winter.
Creating a skiing brand is just one aspect of Chongli's tourism development. The area is currently focusing on an integrated development mode featuring sports, culture, and tourism to promote year-round leisure.
Chongli district government established the Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, Tourism and Sports in April this year to cope with integrated development trend.
"This year, we will hold more than 430 events spanning from sports events, study tours and cultural-themed performances. For a contestant, he or she is normally accompanied by two to three family members, which will boost local hotels, dining, entertainment and shopping businesses. For tourists visiting a resort town, their eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment are all sorted in the town. With the integration of sports, culture, and tourism, we can not only address tourists' concerns more quickly but provide stronger overall service," said Wu Yun, deputy director of Chongli Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, Tourism and Sports.
