Members of an international delegation visiting southwest China's Guizhou Province have hailed local police operations and assistance programs provided by the Ministry of Public Security.
The delegation included police liaison officers from Australia, Belgium, Chile, France and Germany, and the United Nations' regional security advisor.
In late October, the guests toured local police stations and the law enforcement and case handling center in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province. This center integrates law enforcement, case processing, and detainee support services.
Equipped with high-tech storage facilities for detainee belongings, the center also provides medical care. Interrogation areas feature soft furnishings to prevent accidents, and designated rooms are available for young detainees.
"We really understand that you are improving some new systems, and we are really interested to learn about that. And I'm trying to explain to my people in Chile because our police don't have this kind of system and this kind of buildings. But I think it's a really good new technology to apply for crime investigation," said Mario Escarate, counselor of the Chilean Embassy in China.
The Ministry of Public Security also supports a school for the children of families relocated under China's poverty alleviation initiative. Established in 2019, the educational facility in Pu'an County of the province integrates primary, middle, and high school levels. The ministry regularly dispatches police officers to the school for teaching support.
During their visit to the school, the delegation received a warm welcome from students and staff, leaving a strong impression on the members.
"This is a fantastic school, very big. And it's a very good idea the community police help the community here, and people start learning from this age and to give them all of these sports, taking care of them. This of course, in the future, [will] give them a very bright future," said Sherif Messiha, regional security advisor of the Department of Safety and Security of the United Nations.
For these guests, the visit to Guizhou Province offered a valuable opportunity to learn about local operations and grassroots responsibilities. And for China, it further strengthened communication and cooperation with the international community.
