The worsening shortage of medicine is threatening the lives of thousands of patients in the Gaza Strip, who are suffering both mental and physical pains in the war-torn predicament caused by unscrupulous Israeli bombardment and blockade.
The Gaza media office said on Monday that due to Israel's ongoing airstrikes and blockade, all hospitals in the northern Gaza Strip have ceased operations because they cannot receive humanitarian aids including medicines and other medical supplies.
Ide Hamada and his family live in a tent camp in central Gaza. These days, it is not only the lack of food and clothing that troubles them, but also the health issues of his elderly father.
Over 80 years old, Ide's father suffers from severe hypertension, diabetes, and osteoporosis. However, they have been unable to obtain any new medication for nearly three months. Ide constantly fears that his father may succumb to his illnesses due to the lack of treatment.
"At first, we were able to purchase medicine relatively easily, though it was expensive. However, the supply was soon completely cut off. I had to visit numerous drug stores in search of medication—sometimes I found it, other times I couldn't find it anywhere. As a result, my father could only take his medicine intermittently," Ide said.
In addition to the large number of patients with chronic illnesses and injuries, the rapid deterioration of sanitary conditions has led to the swift spread of infectious diseases among the population, particularly in tents and camps where displaced people are living. These patients with infectious diseases are unable to receive effective treatment due to the severe shortage of medications.
"I feel extremely unwell, with a constant sensation of my head about to explode from high blood pressure. Unfortunately, I can't find any medicine, not even a substitute. We desperately implore the world to provide us with treatment and support for patients like us. We can't even access basic medication—this box is already empty," said Muhammad, a patient living in the Gaza Strip.

Diverse array of cutting-edge technologies and knock-out products are making their debut at the ongoing 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, displaying signature humanoid robot, digital agriculture and low-carbon energy facilities among others while exemplifying high-tech, high-quality and green development.
With regard to the popular artificial intelligence, a two-wheeled robot which makes its global debut at the event is eye-catching because of its powerful role in various areas, like industrial inspection and short-distance delivery.
The robot with high flexibility and stability can travel very fast and adapt to various complex terrain conditions.
"This product also has very strong scalability. For example, we can equip it with a gimbal camera or a distribution warehouse to make it capable of monitoring or delivery. At the same time, we can also equip different types of robotic arms on it to make it capable of working," said Sun Meng, an exhibitor.
In the area of agriculture, many exhibitors highlighted its achievements in digital technologies including an intelligent farmland monitoring system which can generate an analysis report before sowing, offering information such as soil nutrients, accumulated temperatures, and extreme weather warnings, providing effective reference for farmers.
"After sowing, we can use remote sensing technology to observe the situation in our farmland. As we can see, If it's green here, it means it's growing well, then if red, it reminds us to pay attention to. At this time, we have to carry out some measures targeting the red area, so as to help farmers improve the efficiency of management," said Jiang Yekui, an exhibitor.
The area of technical equipment mainly showed digital industrial automation, low-carbon energy and environmental protection technologies.
Many global leading companies in manufacturing have displayed their advanced technologies and high-end equipment products.
"It is the first new heat exchanger we have designed and produced in China, and it is also the first time it has made its global premiere at the CIIE. It has very compact size and weight with high efficiency. It can support the recovery and heat exchange of waste heat of an entire large power station. It can also be used in the heating of our northern cities and the long-distance heat transmission," said Gu Wen, an exhibitor.
Running from November 5 to 10 under the theme of "New Era, Shared Future," the 7th CIIE has attracted participants from 152 countries, regions and international organizations to participate in its country exhibition and business exhibition.
Among them, nearly 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions are taking part in the business exhibition, while a record number of 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders are attending the event.
