Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged accelerating rural revitalization to advance Chinese modernization during his inspection to central China's Hubei Province from Monday to Wednesday.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Tuesday visited a vegetable farm and a village in Panjiawan Town in Jiayu County in the province's Xianning City.
At the farm, he checked the vegetable and inquired about crop varieties, cultivation techniques and sales channels.
Xi stressed the need to rely on sci-tech advancement to develop modern agriculture and build up China's strength in agriculture.
He encouraged local officials and farmers to pursue paths driven by science and technology, quality and branding, and make efforts to further enhance vegetable farming to benefit local people.
In Siyi Village, Xi visited an elderly care center and a community service center to check elderly care facilities and community services, and learn about the operation of village-level organizations.
He stressed the necessity to give priority to elderly care and childcare, and help local residents resolve difficulties in a more targeted and effective way.
Xi also visited a villager's home, and inquired about the family's employment, income, elderly care and healthcare needs.
As Xi left the village, villagers warmly saw him off. Xi said that it's essential to accelerate rural revitalization in order to advance Chinese modernization, adding that priority should be given to the development of industries that can benefit local people.
He encouraged the villagers to work together to make specialty industries more profitable, and make villages more beautiful so as to create a better life.
