China and Malaysia share extensive common interests, and the friendly exchanges between the two peoples have proved that the two countries are like-minded good friends and good partners pursuing common development, said President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
President Xi made the statement while meeting with Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim in Beijing.
"Malaysia is an important emerging market, and also an important member of Global South. China and Malaysia share extensive common interests. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations and the Year of China-Malaysia Friendship. Over the past 50 years, bilateral trade has increased by nearly 1,000 times. Friendly exchanges between the people of the two countries have proved that we are not only good neighbors across the sea, but also like-minded good friends, and good partners pursuing common development," said Xi.
At the invitation of the Chinese side, Anwar is on a four-day working visit to China from Nov 4 to 7.
