Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto stressed on Sunday that collaboration, not confrontation, is the way for peace and prosperity.
Prabowo, who is on a state visit to China, made the remarks when attending the China-Indonesia Business Forum held in Beijing on Sunday.
Representatives of the business communities of China and Indonesia attended the forum and signed cooperation agreements covering food, new energy, technology and digital, and bio-industry.
Prabowo attended the forum and delivered a speech. In his speech, Prabowo said that Indonesia is willing to continue to work with China to strengthen cooperation in various fields and jointly witness the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
"Because the agreements signed today is 10 billion U.S. dollars' worth. I think this is very strategic. And we welcome more investment and we will work very hard to provide a good atmosphere, good facilities and a good welcoming for our brothers and sisters from China," he said.
Carrying out economic cooperation is an important topic of Prabowo's visit to China. Accompanying him on this visit are important officials from multiple departments, including the Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, highlighting Indonesia's desire to continue to strengthen in-depth cooperation with China.
During the visit to China, the two sides signed multiple bilateral cooperation documents on joint development, blue economy, water conservancy, minerals and other fields. At present, China is Indonesia's largest trading partner. From January to August 2024, the value of bilateral trade reached 92.79 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.5 percent year on year.
China has been Indonesia's largest source of imports for 13 consecutive years and Indonesia's largest export destination for seven consecutive years. The trade and investment cooperation between China and Indonesia has continuously scored new achievements and has become a model of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation among developing countries, a model of common development, and a pioneer of South-South cooperation.
"We are committed to continuing this path of collaboration, path of synergy in all fields - field of education, field of business, fields of industry and people to people cooperation. And we are very optimistic, we are very bullish about the prospects. And we consider that this close collaboration between Indonesia and China will be a factor to stabilize and to increase the regional atmosphere of cooperation. We must give an example that in this modern age, collaboration, not confrontation, is the way for peace and prosperity," said Prabowo.
