New technologies, achievements and products met the public for the first time during the six-day seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE), serving to actively promote the country's "debut economy", said a senior official at a closing press briefing.
This year's expo, which wrapped Sunday afternoon, has attracted about 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, with a record high of 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders attending the event.
According to Wu Zhengping, deputy director general of the CIIE Bureau, the event provided ample opportunities for global exporters to share their innovations in cutting-edge fields.
"In the technology and equipment exhibition area, a new materials section was set up for the first time. More than half of the exhibitors in the automotive exhibition area showcased the latest technologies and innovative achievements such as autonomous driving and novel energy storage. The innovation incubation section featured 360 innovative projects from 34 countries and regions, providing support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as newly-established firms," said Wu.
The official added that many multinational companies have debuted and exhibited 450 new products, technologies, and services.
"These include over 100 global debuts, 40 first exhibitions in Asia, and more than 200 first-time appearances in China, actively supporting the debut economy and stimulating new consumption momentum," he said.
The latest statistics showed that the CIIE has hosted a total of 124 new product launches, showcasing 176 cutting-edge technological products.
A series of exhibits representing the development direction of new quality productive forces made their debut at the seventh CIIE, covering various frontier technologies, such as high-end equipment, new materials, biotechnology, and others.
Against the backdrop of changes unseen in a century and sluggish global economic recovery, the CIIE, by connecting global enterprises with China's super-sized market, has fostered global trade and cooperation, adding momentum to the global economy and also injecting dynamism into the joint efforts of Global South countries to push for more balanced and inclusive economic globalization.
