Peruvians from various social sectors are anticipating more development opportunities and stronger ties with China following Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit.
President Xi is scheduled to attend the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in the Peruvian capital Lima, the 19th G20 Summit in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, and pay a state visit to Peru and Brazil, respectively, from Nov 13 to 21.
"Just as I said, the ties between China and Peru have a long history. China is our main trading partner. We will continue our effort in providing policy support to give the EV industry a traction. There is no doubt that Chinese enterprises are industry leaders. We believe Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit will boost relations between the two countries," said Raul Perez-Reyes, Minister of transport and communications of Peru.
Peruvian officials and economists believe that the visit will bring the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to a new height.
"For us, the relationship with China it is important. We can not only establish significant connections on economic and regional levels but also promote our country's development. President Xi Jinping's visit can strengthen our economic ties, as well as educational exchanges," said Ernesto Bustamante, member of Peruvian Parliament.
"China has made great contributions to the development of Peru. Firstly, China purchases products from us. Secondly, China has provided us with many affordable products such as smart phones and cars, which have improved the living standards of many people," said Carlos Aquino Rodriguez, a professor of International Economics, Asian Economies, San Marcos National University.
