The popular Giant Panda Fu Bao was recently seen feasting away on a fresh bamboo meal while basking in the sunshine at a breeding base in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Video footage showed a series of heartwarming scenes as the beloved four-year-old delightedly munched down her delicious bamboo shoots under the sun, with discarded bamboo peels scattered adorably across her body. The video was captured recently at the Shenshuping base of China Conservation and Research Center for Giant Pandas (CCRCGP) in the Wolong National Nature Reserve.

Fu Bao, meaning "lucky treasure", was born in July 2020 in South Korea and was the first panda cub ever born in the country. She is the daughter of giant pandas Ai Bao and Le Bao, who were sent to South Korea from China in 2016 on a 15-year lease.

The young panda captured the hearts of netizens and visitors during her time in South Korea with her adorable appearance and unique charm.

She returned to China in April this year and made her official public debut in Sichuan in June after a period of quarantine.

The CCRCGP is a world-leading institution dedicated to breeding and conserving one of China's national treasures, the giant panda. The center has also established a global platform for promoting international cooperation and exchanges involving 18 zoos from 16 countries and regions, 39 domestic animal breeding institutions, and over 10 scientific research institutes.

China's NEV annual output exceeds 10 million

2024-11-14 16:28 Last Updated At:17:07

China's annual output of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surpassed the 10 million milestone on Thursday, with the country becoming the first one that has reached this annual output in the world, said the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the CAAM jointly held an event gathering representatives of automakers at the Dongfeng Honda NEV production plant in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province to witness this milestone.

The participants also witnessed the production line roll off China's 10 millionth NEV this year.

According to the latest data, from the beginning of this year until Thursday, the output of 10 million units indicates a 4.3-percent increase compared to last year's total production of 9.587 million units.

Over the recent years, China's NEV secor has seen remarkable development milestones, ranking first in global production and sales for nine consecutive years.

"It took us nearly a decade for our NEV annual output to exceed a million units in 2018. About four years later in 2022, our annual output exceeded five million units per year. Today, in two years, we have reached an annual output of over 10 million units. The sector's development has been gradually gathering pace, and now China has become the first country in the world to produce over 10 million NEVs a year," said Guo Shougang, deputy director of the equipment industry department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

"Moreover, up to now, China has established a charging device infrastructure with the highest number of charging stations, the broadest coverage of charging facilities, and the most extensive range of supported vehicle types. This stands as a significant advantage that bolsters the rapid development of China's NEV industry." said Fu Bingfeng, CAAM's executive vice president.

According to experts, while meeting domestic market demands, Chinese NEVs have integrated into the global supply chain system, garnering welcome from consumers worldwide. This has not only gained popularity among a global audience, but has also made China's contribution to the world in reducing carbon emission, addressing climate change and promoting green and low-carbon development.
