The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy Marine Corps made its inaugural appearance at the going 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Airshow China, in Zhuhai, a coastal city of south China's Guangdong Province, with Z-20J carrier-based helicopters and Z-8C transport helicopters delivering a breathtaking aerobatic performance to highlight its air-ground operation capabilities.
The Navy Marine Corps is responsible for amphibious assault operations in the Navy.
In order to deliver its best performance at the airshow, the Navy Marine Corps has spent most of their time conducting drills after every day's demonstration.
In an interview with the China Media Group (CMG), Liu Zhengkun, a soldier of the Navy Marine Corps which attends Airshow China for the first time, shared his thoughts on the event.
"It is impressive. It is the first time I saw a variety of our country's new fighter jets so close, and it gives me the opportunity to learn from and communicate with soldiers from multiple military branches. This event has improved my knowledge and experience a lot," said Liu.
In addition to demonstrating the use of carrier-based helicopters, the Navy Marine Corps also showed the usage of all-terrain military combat vehicles, and how soldiers conduct a rapid assault to seize enemy targets.
Soldiers said the demonstrations display part of their daily training, and showcase their operation capabilities to the world.
"This is the first time we Navy Marine Corps makes our inaugural appearance at the airshow. The just-ended aerobatic performance showed soldiers using six carrier-based helicopters and Lynx all-terrain military combat vehicle for quick maneuvers and targeted control, demonstrating our regular trainings," said Peng Yaming, a Navy Marine Corps soldier.
"This is an important opportunity to showcase the progress of the Navy Marine Corps and its air-ground operation capabilities to the world," said Duan Libao, another Navy Marine Corps soldier.
Airshow China kicked off on Tuesday and will last through Sunday.
