China stands ready to deepen high-quality cooperation with Singapore and continue advancing modernization to bring more benefits to people of both sides, said Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong Shyun Tsai in Peru's capital Lima on Friday.
The bilateral meeting took place on the sidelines of the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting which is being held on Friday and Saturday in Lima.
"China and Singapore are friendly neighbors and each other's important cooperative partner. Under the careful nurturing of generations of leaders of our nations, China-Singapore relations have continued to grow, setting an example of mutual benefit and common development between countries. Last year witnessed the elevation of China-Singapore relationship to an all-round, high-quality, forward-oriented partnership, thereby charting the course for bilateral ties to develop going forward," Xi said during the meeting.
"At present, both China and Singapore are at a critical stage of national development, and next year will mark the 35th anniversary of our diplomatic ties. China is ready to work with Singapore to continue advancing on the path of modernization by opening a new chapter of high-quality cooperation and pushing forward the steady development of bilateral relations, so as to bring more benefits to the people of our two countries and jointly make even greater contributions to world peace, stability and prosperity," he said.
This year's APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting takes place under the theme "Empower, Include, Grow", gathering heads of state and other dignitaries from 21 member economies across the Asia-Pacific region, including China, the United States, and other major economies in Southeast Asia.
