Labour Advisory Board Election of Employee Representatives results

The 2025-2026 Labour Advisory Board (LAB) Election of Employee Representatives was completed today (November 16). A total of 10 candidates ran for the election. Representatives from 846 registered employee unions turned up to vote.

The LAB is a high-level and representative tripartite consultative body appointed by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare (in exercise of the authority delegated by the Chief Executive) to advise the Commissioner for Labour on labour matters, including legislation and Conventions and Recommendations of the International Labour Organisation. The Government will later announce the appointment of members to the LAB for a term of two years starting on January 1, 2025.

Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Chai Wan this afternoon (November 17) in which a woman died.

At about 1.27pm, a special purpose vehicle driven by a 66-year-old man was reportedly knocked down a 93-year-old female passerby, when it is reversing to a school on 3 Harmony Road.

Sustaining serious multiple injuries, the woman was certified dead at scene at 2.25pm.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is under way.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3660 6814.
