The Spanish version of the third season of "The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping", a multilingual TV series produced by China Media Group (CMG), was launched in Peruvian capital Lima on Friday on the sidelines of the 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting.

At the invitation of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the Peruvian capital on Thursday for the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, which was scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

Boluarte highly praised the CMG program through a video speech at the launching ceremony, saying that it consolidated the long-standing friendship between Peru and China and built a bridge for the Peruvian people to understand China's long history and rich philosophy.

"Today, we are celebrating the official launch of the [Spanish version of the] third season of 'The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping', and I would like to extend my sincerest congratulations. This launch ceremony has once again consolidated the foundation of the long-lasting friendship between Peru and China. The launch ceremony held in Lima, the capital of Peru, is of far-reaching significance. It not only builds a bridge for the Peruvian people, especially the younger generation of Peru, to understand China's long history and rich philosophy, but also demonstrates President Xi Jinping's active inheritance and development of China's 5,000-year-old civilization and his determination to integrate it into the practice of building a community with a shared future for mankind," she said.

CMG President Shen Haixiong, Peruvian Culture Minister Fabricio Alfredo Valencia Gibaja, National Institute of Radio and Television of Peru (IRTP) executive president Ninoska Chandia, and Andean Community secretary general Gonzalo Gutierrez Reinel delivered speeches at the ceremony and jointly launched the program with other guests and representatives on the stage.

Shen, also deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that from the history of overseas Chinese in Peru striving side by side with the Peruvian people more than 400 years ago, to the comprehensive and pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields today, and to the mutually beneficial exchanges and learning among different civilizations, the exchanges and cooperation between China and Peru are precious and sincere.

Shen said that the program focuses on topics such as ecological protection, cultural heritage, exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, and modernization, and introduces China's traditional ideological achievements and modern governance strategies to the people of the world based on quotes from Chinese literary classics used by Xi in his speeches and articles. This will further promote understanding and resonance between the people of the two countries, and add new brilliance to Chinese civilization and Inca civilization that have complemented each other in human history.

Shen also noted that the opening of the Chancay Port in Peru, another landmark project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), heralds a bright future for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and is also one of the key focus of the program.

Gibaja said that he was pleasantly surprised to read Xi's signed article of "China-Peru Friendship: Setting Sail toward an Even Brighter Future" published on Peruvian media outlet El Peruano on Thursday, where Xi not only mentioned the development process of China as a country with a thousands-year-old civilization, but also showed his in-depth understanding of ancient Peruvian civilization such as Caral, Chavín, Chimú, and Inca.

The Peruvian Ministry of Culture is willing to further strengthen cultural exchanges with China, deepen friendly cooperation with CMG, and deepen the mutual learning and mutual benefits between the two civilizations and enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries based on the well-made program, according to Gibaja.

Chandia said the classic quotes are a reflection of Chinese wisdom for thousands of years, which transcend national boundaries and echo the common values of justice, solidarity and respect in the world, which are also respected by Peru, and the program will further deepen the friendship between Peru and China and promote the mutual understanding between their people.

Quoting Xi's visionary remarks on cultural exchanges between China and Latin America and the ancient Chinese saying of "bringing benefit to the people is the fundamental principle of governance" cited by Xi in his published article, Reinel said the program vividly demonstrated Xi's outstanding political wisdom and profound historical and cultural heritage, and said he hoped that the broadcast of this program in Peru will further promote the friendship between Peru and China and open a new chapter in the relationship between the Andean Community and China.

In his video speech, Chinese Ambassador to Peru Song Yang said that this year, Xi pointed out during his talks with Boluarte in Beijing that the two countries are both ancient civilizations, the friendship between the two countries has a long history, and the friendship between their people is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and therefore, Xi's works on state governance are widely popular in Peru.

The Chinese Embassy in Peru is willing to take this important event as an opportunity to conduct exchanges with the Peruvian media, intellectuals, and the general public, and deeply understand and fully implement Xi's vision to promote overall cooperation between China and Latin America and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, said Song in his video speech.

Focusing on the themes of cultural inheritance, ecological civilization, poverty alleviation, and exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, the program features quotes from Chinese literary classics used by Xi in his speeches and articles, and allows overseas audiences to understand Xi's outstanding political wisdom and profound historical and cultural learning as well as the era connotation and global value contained in the profound Chinese traditional culture.

Chinese entrepreneur eyes inclusive growth in Latin America

2024-11-16 22:19 Last Updated At:22:47

Chinese businesses are exploring new opportunities for inclusive growth in emerging markets like Latin America, as global business leaders gathered in Peru for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit this week.

This year's APEC CEO Summit took place in Lima from Wednesday to Friday, bringing together over 1,000 chief executives, thought leaders, and government representatives to share insights and exchange views on the region's economic development under the theme "People, Business, Prosperity."

Wang Yangbin, chairman of Vobile Group, a global leader in digital content protection, launched a startup in Silicon Valley and has since established a strong foothold in the U.S. market. Now, despite rising protectionism in the world, he is advocating for the expansion of Chinese media industry into new markets to achieve inclusive growth and unlock more potential.

"China is at the forefront of many technological fields globally. As for inclusive growth, in a global media landscape, I believe Chinese media deserves greater inclusiveness, broader market access, and more value in the world," said Wang, in an interview during the summit.

Wang also sees potential for intellectual property protection businesses in Latin America, as the Chinese media industry continues to expand and grow in the region.

"Intellectual property protection is a globally recognized principle, with the industry valued at nearly 3 trillion U.S. dollars worldwide, (partly driven) by the huge media industry. Chinese companies in this field are actually developing well in Latin America and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative," he said.

Ten years ago, Chinese Presdient Xi Jinping first proposed the vision of building a China-Latin America community with a shared future, charting the course for the development of China-Latin America relations in the new era.

The vision has pointed the way forward for deepening ties between China and the region. Reflecting on his business growth overseas, Wang shared his thoughts on the importance of openness, inclusiveness, and mutual interest in following such a vision.

"Sometimes, it's important for our company to align with the bigger picture. Every industry has its own path, but I believe the path we're on is mainly tied to the peaceful rise of the Chinese nation. As China rises, we have the opportunity to trade with many countries for mutual benefit. As a beneficiary of China's reform and opening-up, I’m confident in opening our business to the world. There are people who share our vision and are willing to grow with us, benefiting together," said Wang.
