China has repeated its willingness to continue playing a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis and called on all parties to work towards de-escalation, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Monday.
"China's position on the Ukraine crisis is consistent and clear. An early ceasefire and a political settlement serve the interests of all parties. The priority now is to promote de-escalation. China always encourages and supports all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the crisis, and is willing to continue playing a constructive role in the political settlement of the Ukraine crisis in its own way," said Lin when responding to media inquiries on the Ukraine issue.
The spokesman also criticized smears on cooperation between China and Russia, saying China upholds an objective and fair position on the Ukraine issue.
"China has made repeated responses to similar questions. I would like to reiterate here that China always takes an objective and just position on the Ukraine issue, and actively works for de-escalation of the situation. This contrasts sharply with some countries that practice double standards and fan the flame on the Ukraine crisis," said Lin.
"China handles the export of military products prudently and responsibly, has never provided lethal weapons to parties to the conflict, and strictly controls the export of drones for military use and dual use in accordance with the law. We hope that relevant countries and individuals will refrain from baseless speculation, slander, and defamation against China," Lin continued.
"All parties should work together to deescalate the situation in a responsible way, so as to accumulate conditions for an early ceasefire and a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis," he said.
