Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD is intensively researching advanced technologies to develop more sustainable batteries and EVs, so as to help addressing climate change and future challenges, said Cao Shuang, Managing Director of BYD Central Asia and Caucasus.
In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), Cao emphasized that BYD is actively working on upgrading its batteries to enhance performance and sustainability, noting that the company plans to launch a new generation of its blade battery in 2025. "BYD focuses on this battery life cycle management system. We are also working closely with different partners in the industries to develop our reusing system of the battery, I mean, after the first life of the battery in vehicles, into different kind of applications, for instance, like energy storage as well. And meanwhile, BYD also focus on introducing new technologies for improving the energy density of our battery. So very soon, I think in the coming years, 2025, BYD will introduce the new generation of our remarkable blade battery. This will also enhance the driving distance of our vehicles and also extend this life cycle of the battery itself," said Cao.
Addressing challenges such as tariffs, Cao reaffirmed BYD's commitment to serving clients worldwide and fostering mutual understanding.
"What BYD have already made a good example worldwide is continuously making the effort to introduce the latest, I mean, new energy vehicle product and also the latest technology to serve different people in different countries. So this commitment is unwavering no matter what has happened globally in different countries. But we just do what needs to take place and we are making effort with the country or with the regions where we have the same goal and where we have the common sense of understanding," said Cao.
