The ongoing second China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) in Beijing has seen participation by a significantly larger number of international exhibitors, marking global recognition for CISCE as a comprehensive platform to promote global industry chain and supply chain stability and connectivity.
Compared to the first CISCE last year, this year's expo is attended by around 600 exhibitors, with around 30 percent of them being international ones, and over 60 percent from among the Fortune Global 500 or industry leaders. Many of the exhibitors have described the expo as an essential platform to explore opportunities.
"I think CISCE is a wonderful opportunity for us to talk about our supply chain and how we bring sustainability and green environment to our consumers here in China. We are exhibiting here today with Xiamen C&D and so Xiamen C&D works together with us in terms of providing logistics service, warehouse service, financial services, and helping us to be able to meet our customers' needs," said Teh-han Chow, Chief Executive Officer Greater China at Fonterra, a New Zealand Dairy giant.
In addition to global companies, international business organizations are also leveraging the event to seek new collaborations.
"China's experience has taught us a lot, especially digitalization, technology, and the efficiency of supply chains. It's very important. And our target is to introduce awareness for the Chinese businesses, for the Turkish businesses to get to know each other, to see the opportunities, and to create collaboration ideas, and to, really, [realize] maybe ten-fold or twenty-fold our trading volume, our investment volume, and tourism," said Korhan Kurdoglu, Türkiye- China Business Council chairman representing Türkiye.
The active participation of international enterprises reflects their increasing confidence in the Chinese market and economy, noted Zhang Shaogang, vice chairman of China Council for Promotion of International Trade.
"Companies from all countries are actively participating in the Supply Chain Expo, indicating that they are not only confident in the Chinese market, but are also eager to board the 'express train' of China's development, and develop alongside the Chinese economy. Chinese and foreign enterprises can find their best partner from around the globe to 'chain' together, and join hands to promote stability and smooth operation of global industry chain and supply chains," Zhang said.
Themed "Connecting the World for a Shared Future," the five-day expo opened on Tuesday, putting a spotlight on a more "chain-centric" approach. Through booth placements and exhibit configurations, it demonstrates critical points across the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of various chains.
The expo, hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), covers a floor space of more than 100,000 square meters with six key industrial chains and one exhibition area -- Advanced Manufacturing Chain, Clean Energy Chain, Smart Vehicle Chain, Digital Technology Chain, Healthy Life Chain, Green Agriculture Chain and Supply Chain Service Area.
It showcases advanced concepts, products, and technologies of relevant industrial chains, and also features supporting services such as finance and insurance, logistics and distribution, business consulting, and legal service, according to the CCPIT.
In addition to exhibitions, this year's CISCE will also include a series of sideline events, including the release of an annual report on the global supply chain, and discussions on promoting supply chain stability, connectivity and accessibility, according to the event's organizers.
