Marxism's critical perspectives have helped China avoid blindly following Western models, according to scholars and politicians from China and abroad recently speaking in interviews with China Global Television Network (CGTN).
Eleni Evagorou, a member of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus, describes Europe as going through a difficult period with many people living in poverty.
"Europe is facing a difficult time. Many people are facing poverty. So I think that Europe needs to change its path to a more social-oriented and people-oriented policy. We can see that the capitalism always wants to be bigger and greater, and that is why we have the imperialist war, which is a huge problem of our times since capitalism would like to take more money through the weapons and everything," Evagorou said.
"The birth of Marxism arose from the numerous issues faced by the West in the 19th century. With Marxism as a theoretical foundation, we maintain a comparative perspective, allowing us to avoid blindly following Western models. Throughout our learning from the West, we adopt a critical viewpoint," said Xing Yunwen, professor from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
"I believe China is not a second Soviet Union. The situation has changed, the cultural foundations are different, the people's cohesion is not the same and the governing capabilities of the Communist Party differ significantly," said A.V. Lomanov, professor from Russian Academy of Sciences.
China's proposed multilateral order seeks to promote international equality, mutual benefit, and global fairness and justice, according to Xin Xiangyang, president and deputy secretary at the Academy of Marxism, part of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
"We are working on our own to transform an unfair international economic order into a fairer and more reasonable one. The development of socialism with Chinese characteristics indeed plays a significant role in promoting fairness and justice for humanity," he said.
Jose Luis Centella, the chairman of the Communist Party of Spain, said that the world is facing serious dangers, including regional conflict, where China's role as a major global power and champion of peace and unity is particularly important.
"In this moment, there are two opposing ideologies: one is the multilateral order proposed by China, which is based on the original principles of the United Nations and emphasized equal and mutually beneficial relationships, But also, let's not hide it, there is another block of countries seeks to bring about a new Cold War, dividing the world into opposing blocs that imposes tariffs, raises walls. I hope the future for humanity, as President Xi Jinping has articulated, will be established based on a shared multilateral international order. In this order, all countries and cultures can connect and enrich each other's lives," said Centella.
