The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip had risen to 44,363, the Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Friday.
In the past 24 hours, Israeli military operations in Gaza killed 33 people and injured 137 others, bringing the total number of injuries to 105,070, according to the statement.
The civil defense department of Gaza issued a statement on Friday, saying that the Beit Lahia area in the northern Gaza Strip was attacked twice by the Israeli army that day, causing a total of 75 deaths in the area.
The statement said that many families had been killed in the Israeli army's attack on the northern Gaza Strip, with many people still buried under the rubble, but the civil defense is sorely lacking in staff and equipment needed to remove the rubble.
From Thursday evening to Friday, many places in the central and southern Gaza Strip were attacked by the Israeli army, causing casualties, said the statement. Among them, the attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza killed 19 people. Medical institutions said that some Israeli tanks were still in the western part of the camp.
Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 taken hostage.
In another development, A senior Hamas official said on Friday that a Hamas delegation would arrive in Cairo on the following day to hold talks with Egyptian officials.
Earlier, the United States said it would work with Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye to restart ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
