Palestinian death toll from Israeli attacks in Gaza rises to 44,502

The Palestinian death toll from the ongoing Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip has risen to 44,502, with 105,454 others injured, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement released on Tuesday.

Over the previous 24 hours, Israeli military operations in Gaza led to 36 deaths and 96 injuries, according to the statement.

According to media reports, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that the Israeli forces conducted a series of attacks in central Gaza Strips on Tuesday, killing several Hamas militants. The Israeli military also attacked the Netzarim Corridor, which separates Gaza into northern and southern zones, targeting buildings used by Hamas.

Multiple media reports also said on Tuesday that the Israeli forces launched an airstrike on a school in Gaza City in the northern Gaza Strip, causing multiple casualties including women and children.

On Tuesday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, released a video showing its fighters launching attacks on Israeli soldiers and other targets in the Gaza Strip.

China hopes that South Korea will take effective measures to protect the safety and security of Chinese nationals and institutions in the country, which has been plunged into a political stalemate for the time being, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Wednesday.

Lin Jian, the spokesman, made the statement at a press conference in Beijing when answering a query concerning the short-lived imposition of martial law in South Korea.

China has noticed the relevant events and will not comment on South Korea's domestic affaird, Lin said, adding that China has advised its nationals in South Korea to take extra safety precautions.

China's position on the Korean Peninsula issue remains unchanged, Lin noted.
