The added value of China's equipment manufacturing industry contributed 42.7 percent to industrial growth, according to an official at the 2024 Equipment Manufacturing Forum in Chongqing Municipality.
The four-day event, which began on Monday, focuses on intelligent, green, and integrated equipment. It brings together industry experts, leaders, and representatives to discuss trends and explore development opportunities in the sector, according to the organizers.
Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin said at the forum that in the first 10 months of this year, the added value of China's equipment manufacturing industry accounted for 34 percent of the added value of industries above designated size, remaining above 30 percent for 20 consecutive months and contributing 42.7 percent to industrial growth.
Since the beginning of this year, numerous innovations in high-end equipment have emerged, leading to the application of several major equipment products. At the same time, there has been a significant improvement in both intelligent and green manufacturing, he stated.
"214 national intelligent manufacturing demonstration factories, 34 lighthouse factories and 1,850 green factories have been built in the equipment field, and the density of industrial robots has reached 470 per 10,000 people," Xin said.
Xin stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will soon introduce a new round of policies aimed at steady growth in the equipment manufacturing industry. This will involve conducting in-depth, large-scale equipment renewals and trade-ins for consumer goods, as well as actively cultivating new growth engines, such as intelligent, networked new energy vehicles and low-altitude equipment.
Additionally, the ministry will deepen international exchanges and cooperation, strengthen partnerships with countries along the Belt and Road and BRICS nations, and encourage leading enterprises to engage more fully in global industrial collaboration, all in pursuit of high-quality development in equipment manufacturing, he said.
