A Portuguese expert praised China's "one country, two systems" policy in Macao, highlighting its achievements and global recognition in a documentary released on Friday by the China Media Group (CMG) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

In an interview with China Central Television (CCTV), Rui Lourido, president of the Observatory for China in Portugal, shared his insights on the successful implementation of China's "one country, two systems" policy in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) over the past 25 years. He noted that while the two systems differ politically, economically, and socially, they are both working toward the same goal.

"It's proved that it's a very great idea in order to put together different systems --political, economical and social systems weaving together for the same objective, for the same purpose," said Lourido.

Lourido's interview was featured in the first episode of the China Media Group (CMG) documentary Titled "25 Years of Lotus Bond."

The series premiered on CCTV-1 at 20:00 Friday and will run until Dec 17, with subsequent broadcasts on CCTV-4 and CCTV-13.

The documentary comprises five thematic episodes: Love for the Home and the Nation, A Path of Diversity, The Flavor of Happiness, A City of Integration, and Gateway to the Future. It highlights the successful practices of "one country, two systems" in Macao under the strategic guidance of the central government.

The Chinese government resumed the exercise of sovereignty over Macao and established the Macao SAR on December 20, 1999.
